The story
Phil's Diner, 11138 Chandler Blvd., North Hollywood. It is a 1926 dining car, called the oldest in California; it opened as Phil's in 1928 beside the Lankershim depot and is now a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument. Our own drawing of the car and its pole sign, after a 1950s photo of the Chandler Blvd. site.
