1946–2001

Devonshire Downs

Devonshire Downs opened at 18000 Devonshire Street in Northridge as a harness track in 1946. The state bought it in 1948 for the San Fernando Valley Fair, and it later became part of San Fernando Valley State College, now CSUN. Racing ended in 1971 and most of the buildings came down in 2001.

The grounds hosted car shows, horse shows and festivals, among them the Fantasy Faire and Magic Music Festival of July 15–16, 1967, and Newport '69. A 1960s rental flyer called it "the San Fernando Valley's only complete fair grounds and exhibit facility!"
